Mary Whigham Hargrave is a Director of the Pastel Society of America (see link below) and the Hudson Valley Art Association. Memberships include the American Artists Professional League.

Working from photographs and life, Mary captures the personality and vitality of the subject while achieving a striking likeness. She works with the client in determining how the subjects will be portrayed. Her style is realistic and her use of color impressionistic. Her goal is to show the subjects at their best in lighting and pose while creating a lasting work of art. Her portraits are represented in collections throught the Unuted States.

As a teacher, she shares her knowledge and inspiration with her students. She teaches at the Rye Arts Center as well as on cruise ships. She gives workshops in portrait painting to art groups and presents portrait demonstrations. In addition her annual workshops in Europe have been very successful.
